Macklin Motors Boosts EXCELR8 BTCC Support To Keep Local Star On Track

Award-winning Scottish automotive retailer Macklin Motors is delighted to announce that it has increased its backing for the EXCELR8 team, ensuring Ronan Pearson will remain on the grid ahead of the latest rounds of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this weekend.

The event at Knockhill is the only time that Britain’s premier racing series heads north of the border, with Macklin Motors – which is part of the same wider group as team title partner Bristol Street Motors - marking the occasion by confirming a boost in support for the Hyundai team and local racer Ronan Pearson.

The 22-year-old is based in nearby Dunfermline, where Macklin Motors operates four of its 18 dealerships across Scotland; with a multi-brand site on Halbeath Road that represents Hyundai, Renault, Dacia and Vauxhall.

Ronan has close ties with the Dunfermline dealership through family members that work there, and paid a visit back in May to show off the trophy he secured for his maiden win in the series at Brands Hatch.

The additional backing will not only help Ronan chase success on track at Knockhill this weekend, but will also aid in him in completing his second season in the BTCC as he looks to battle for the Jack Sears Trophy title.

Macklin Motors is set to play a prominent role in proceedings across the Knockhill weekend, with Ronan proudly carrying additional Macklin Motors branding across the #14 Hyundai alongside the Scottish Saltire and – for this weekend only – a flash of the Pearson family tartan.

Ronan goes into the seventh weekend of the season seeking to try and replicate the front-running form he showed at Brands Hatch to give the Scottish fans a first home win since Rory Butcher back in 2020.

Last season, Ronan charged through the field from 14th on the grid to score three top eight finishes, including what was then a career-best fourth place.

Those results saw him take to the podium at the end of the weekend as the highest scorer in the Jack Sears Trophy, with his goal this time around being to once again make it onto the podium, but in the overall top three.

Ronan Pearson, Macklin Motors-backed Team Bristol Street Motors driver, said: “I’m proud to have raced with the support of Macklin Motors since I joined the grid at the start of last season, and it’s fantastic to now see that backing increase ahead of my home event. Knockhill was my best weekend of the season last year, and hopefully I can enjoy a repeat this time around to celebrate with three strong results.”

Justina Williams, Team Bristol Street Motors Team Owner, said: “Knockhill is a big weekend for us as a team as Ronan’s home event, so we’re delighted to gain additional backing from Macklin Motors as we prepare to head for Scotland. They have become a valued partner in recent seasons and supporting us in this way is a reflection of the work we are doing to deliver results on the track.”

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Macklin Motors, said: “Our relationship with EXCELR8 Motorsport has been a huge success for the Macklin Motors brand, and Ronan has been a fantastic ambassador both on and off track since he joined Team Bristol Street Motors last season.

“Given our local ties to Knockhill through our dealerships in both Dunfermline and Edinburgh, this is the ideal time for us to increase our support for the team as it looks to strengthen its championship challenge, and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.”

Ronan currently sits second in the Jack Sears Trophy standings, with team-mate Tom Ingram topping the overall standings. Team Bristol Street Motors sits second in the Teams’ Championship.
