Vertu Commits To Pilgrims Partnership
Vertu Motors has extended its partnership with Plymouth Argyle Football Club, signing a two-year contract as the Official Motor Retail Partner of the Championship side.
The affiliation will see Vertu Motors branding adorning the Club’s shirt sleeves of the Men’s First Team, plus all Academy teams, for the next two years as Steven Schumacher’s men prepare to play in the Sky Bet Championship for the first time since 2010.
Vertu Motors, part of the UK’s third largest motor retail group Vertu Motors plc, began its relationship with the Club in March following the acquisition of 28 sales outlets in the South West from Helston Garages Group. Its branding was displayed on the playing kit of the Pilgrims for the Papa John’s Trophy Final against Bolton Wanderers.
James Greenacre, Plymouth Argyle FC Head of Commercial, said of the partnership: “It is great news that Vertu Motors has extended its commitment to the club and come on board as our Official Sleeve Partner.
“We have worked closely with the company in the last few months on a number of activations that have been extremely well received by the Green Army, particularly at the Devon County Show and Royal Cornwall Show. Vertu Motors has become an extremely important business within the South West region so there is a natural symmetry in the partnership with the club.
“I am looking forward to working with Vertu Motors closely over the next two years to ensure the partnership is fruitful for both parties and can’t wait to see their logo appear on our playing shirt sleeves at various Championship grounds around the country this season.”
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motors, said: “Our representation in the South West has been incredibly successful and well received by customers; working in partnership with the newly promoted Plymouth Argyle Football Club will further enhance the brand, strengthening our ties with the local community to which many of our dealerships reside within.
“I am looking forward to Vertu Motors branding being proudly displayed on the team’s shirts as they embark on their Championship campaign.
“Good luck to Steven Schumacher and the team!”
