Bristol Street Motors invests in Vauxhall Sunderland

Bristol Street Motors Vauxhall in Sunderland has expanded, creating six new jobs, following a £250,000 transformation.

The Alexandra Avenue dealership has undergone a major refurbishment, with investment in a new state-of-the-art showroom, as well as revamped customer and colleague areas.

The dealership is also welcoming six new colleagues, including a sales executive, a new technician and four new colleagues in the parts department.

The news comes as long-standing colleague John Watchman celebrates 36 years at the dealership. A former member of popular band Love Affair, whose hits include Everlasting Love and Rainbow Valley, John joined the dealership in 1978.

Customers Derek Rodgers, Joe Watson and Malcolm Elves have between them bought 74 cars and have been dealing with John for 101 years combined.  Derek Rodgers said: “The new dealership is really impressive and it’s always good to see a company investing in Sunderland and new jobs being created.

“I have been dealing with John for more than three decades – he is polite, friendly and knowledgeable about the brand and the motor industry. Although the surroundings have changed over the years, it’s good the service remains the same, with John’s colleagues following in his footsteps to provide the same high standard of service. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for a car.”

John Watchman, Sales Manager at Bristol Street Motors Vauxhall in Sunderland, said: “I am very proud of my past career in music and I look back on those days very fondly. My passion now is for cars and I love working in an industry that gives me the opportunity to build up great customer relationships and help people to get the car they really want. I am really grateful for the feedback from our loyal customers, many of which have become more like friends over the years.”

Jass Singh, General Manager of Bristol Street Motors Vauxhall Sunderland, said: “The refurbishment to the dealership has really made some positive changes and we have had a number of lovely comments from our customers. The new ten car show room has really made a difference to what we can offer and we are pleased that people are enjoying the new facilities.

“We are thrilled to be able to welcome six new colleagues to our dealership – it is always wonderful to welcome new faces and continue to improve on the services that we offer.”
