Bristol Street Motors Readies For BTCC Title Push
With two rounds of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship left to run, award-winning automotive retailer Bristol Street Motors has strengthened its challenge for a second championship title after enhancing its support for the EXCELR8 team.
Bristol Street Motors first joined forces with EXCELR8 ahead of the 2021 season as the team expanded its BTCC programme to run four Hyundai i30 Fastback N models – which had been introduced to the series by the team twelve months earlier.
Since 2022, Bristol Street Motors has held the role of title partner with the Droitwich-based team, with the relationship between the two parties going from strength-to-strength as Team Bristol Street Motors firmly cemented its position as one of the top outfits in British motorsport.
In 114 races together, the partnership between EXCELR8 and Bristol Street Motors has delivered a total of 20 wins – shared between Tom Ingram, Tom Chilton, Ronan Pearson and Daniel Lloyd – and 57 podium finishes, whilst Bristol Street Motors-backed cars have secured five pole positions and set the fastest lap on 26 occasions.
Whilst success has been ongoing from the moment that the first race of the partnership ended, with Ingram scoring a podium finish at Thruxton, the undoubted highlight came at the conclusion of the 2022 campaign when the now 31-year-old was crowned champion.
Title glory came at the end of a hard-fought campaign in which Ingram scored six wins, enabling him to beat Ash Sutton and Jake Hill to top honours.
Further strengthening of the relationship between Bristol Street Motors and EXCELR8 comes at a critical time in the race for the 2024 title, with Ingram currently embroiled in a titanic battle for a second title - ironically with Hill and Sutton once again as the main opposition.
With six races to run, at Silverstone this weekend and then at Brands Hatch in early October, Ingram currently sits just nine points away from top spot in the standings, whilst Team Bristol Street Motors is also firmly in the contention for the Teams’ Championship crown, which it is looking to secure for the first time.
“This has been another hugely successful season for our partnership in the British Touring Car Championship, and hopefully, with our support, the best is yet to come,” Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Bristol Street Motors, said.
“In what has been an extremely competitive year on track, we have been proud to see the Team Bristol Street Motors cars battling at the front, particularly when the livery this season has been a celebration of our centenary.
“We look forward to cheering the team on at both Silverstone and Brands Hatch, and are confident that everyone involved will continue to give their all in the battle for success.”
