Vertu Mercedes-Benz Of Reading Backs Caversham Trents' Next Generation

Vertu Mercedes-Benz of Reading has partnered with Caversham Trents FC to support its girls’ under-12s side, providing match kits, hoodies and training wear.

The agreement strengthens ties between the retailer and the local grassroots football community, with the team based at Mapledurham Playing Fields in Caversham Heights benefitting from the new kit.

It also reflects a wider commitment from Mercedes-Benz to support the growth of women’s football.

As the official automotive partner of the Women’s Super League and Women’s Super League 2, the motoring brand is focused on ensuring its involvement in the professional game is matched by meaningful support at grassroots level, helping young players see a clear route through the sport into the professional game.

Caversham Trents holds a notable place in the women’s game having previously developed England international Fran Kirby, the Brighton and Hove Albion player who was part of the Lionesses side that won Euro 2022.

As part of the new relationship, Vertu is exploring opportunities to build connections with the professional tier, including potential matchday experiences and player engagement.

Sam Clarke, General Manager at Mercedes-Benz of Reading, said: “Grassroots clubs are where a love of the game really begins, and it’s important that those players feel supported early on.

“When you visit a club like this, you can see the energy straight away; the youngsters are engaged, they listen, and they enjoy being part of a team. If we can play even a small role in maintaining that momentum, then it’s worthwhile.

“There’s also something powerful about those players knowing they’re linked to the same network supporting the top level of the sport.”

Claire Daley for Caversham Trents FC added: “This kind of support makes a real difference to our players. It gives them a sense of pride in representing the club and helps create a positive environment where they can enjoy their football and continue to develop.

“At this age, the experience matters just as much as the results. Turning up in a proper kit, feeling organised and supported are positive things that stay with players. It helps create the kind of environment where they want to keep coming back week after week.”
