Vertu Mercedes-Benz Of Reading Backs Daisy's Dream Anniversary Ball

Vertu Mercedes-Benz Of Reading Backs Daisy's Dream Anniversary Ball

Vertu Mercedes-Benz of Reading is supporting Daisy's Dream's 30th Anniversary Ball by donating a signed Reading Football Club shirt and football to help raise funds for children and young people affected by bereavement or the serious illness of a loved one.

The memorabilia will feature in fundraising activities at the event, which takes place on 10 October at De Vere Wokefield Estate, and is part of the retailer's ongoing commitment to supporting charities and community initiatives across Reading and Berkshire.

The donation was arranged with the support of Nathan Westwood, Assistant Service Manager at Vertu Mercedes-Benz of Reading and a keen Reading FC supporter.

For 30 years, Daisy's Dream has provided emotional support, counselling and practical guidance to families facing some of life's most difficult challenges.

Every year, the charity supports more than 1,000 people, including around 500 children and young people, 300 parents and carers, and 200 professionals. The figures underline the continuing demand for its specialist bereavement services.

The Anniversary Ball will bring together supporters, fundraisers and local businesses to celebrate the charity's achievements over the past three decades while raising vital funds to help ensure its services remain available to families across the region.

Sam Clarke, General Manager at Vertu Mercedes-Benz of Reading, said: “Daisy's Dream has been making a meaningful difference to families across Berkshire for 30 years, helping children and young people navigate some of the toughest moments they will ever face.

“We wanted to contribute to the celebrations in a way that could help raise both funds and awareness. As a Reading business, it is particularly special to donate signed Reading Football Club memorabilia, and we hope it generates plenty of interest on the night.”

Sophie Carter, Fundraising Officer at Daisy's Dream, said: “Every year, we need to raise around £500,000 to ensure Daisy’s Dream can continue supporting children and families through bereavement and serious illness.

“Having specialist support at a time when they may feel frightened, isolated and unsure of where to turn can help them look to the future in a positive way and make a huge difference to their lives.

“Our Anniversary Ball is a chance to celebrate the work we’ve done, but it is also about securing the future of our services. Last year alone we supported more than 1,000 people, and donations like this help ensure we can continue being there for local families when they need us most.

“We're incredibly grateful to Vertu Mercedes-Benz of Reading for their generosity and support, and expect the shirt and ball to be a popular lot during our auction.”

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “Supporting the communities in which we operate is incredibly important to us, and our colleagues are always keen to get behind organisations that make a genuine difference.

“Daisy's Dream has touched the lives of thousands of families over the past 30 years through its compassionate support and specialist expertise. We are delighted that our Reading team has been able to contribute to this landmark celebration, and we wish the charity every success with its Anniversary Ball.”
