Yeovil Apprentice Recognised With BMW Award

A recently qualified Service and Maintenance Technician working at Vertu BMW Yeovil has been recognised by the manufacturer after being named as BMW Apprentice of the Year.

Harry Matterface completed a BMW Technician Apprenticeship at the dealership on Houndstone Business Park last year having been mentored by Martyn Brake – a Senior Technician who has been part of Vertu for more than 15 years.

Following the completion of his apprenticeship, where he gained a distinction in all areas, Harry moved into his current position where he has continued to impress with his drive and determination to succeed as part of an award-winning dealership.

After the Vertu BMW Yeovil site was recognised as Regional Dealer of the Year at the annual BMW Retailer of the Year Awards, Harry was also acknowledged on a personal level having been handed the coveted Apprentice of the Year accolade by BMW.

BMW’s apprentice programme is supported by the BMW UK Training Academy, which recently celebrated 20 years of helping people develop the skills required to work within the automotive industry.

Harry Matterface said: “I’m honoured to be have been recognised by BMW as Apprentice of the Year, which is an award I certainly wasn’t expecting.

“I have to thank the BMW Group Academy and everyone in the team at BMW Yeovil for their support during my apprenticeship, particularly Martyn who was able to pass on a huge amount of knowledge that has gained in his own career.

“I’m proud to be part of such a successful team, and am looking forward to furthering my career at Vertu in the years to come.”

Dale Baker, Divisional Aftersales Director at Vertu BMW, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Harry and a reward for the hard work and effort he put in throughout his apprenticeship.

“He has developed into a highly-skilled technician, and we are lucky to have him working within the Group.”
