Burnley FC And Vertu Unite To Boost Local Foodbank With Festive Donations

Vertu has once again joined forces with Burnley Football Club to support the vital work of the Burnley FC in the Community Foodbank, helping local families during one of the most challenging times of the year.

A festive collection point was set up on Harry Potts Way outside the Turf Moor ground ahead of the Clarets’ Premier League fixture against Fulham, where supporters were invited to provide donations of non-perishable food items.

The items were collected in a vintage red bus that acted as the main donation hub, supported by two Vertu-branded vehicles: a Volkswagen ID.4 from Vertu Volkswagen Skipton and a Range Rover from Vertu Land Rover Nelson.

Supporters who were unable to attend the Fulham fixture can still support the campaign by donating online at burnleyfccommunity.org.

All contributions this festive season will help the foodbank continue its much-needed work supporting local people who need it most.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motors, said: “Every year we’re overwhelmed by the passion and generosity of Burnley supporters, and we’re delighted to have joined forces again to back the fantastic work of the Burnley FC in the Community Foodbank.

“Thanks to the generous support of those who were in attendance at the game, we can make a huge difference to people in the local area who need support this Christmas.”

In total, 1.5 tonnes of good were donated by fans on the day – around the same weight as a Volkswagen Golf.

James Holroyd, Chief Executive Officer at Burnley FC added: “Burnley Football Club is proud to sit at the heart of its community, and initiatives like this show the real impact football can have beyond the pitch.

“The generosity of our supporters, alongside Vertu’s continued support, helps ensure local families receive vital help at a time when it is needed most. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to the foodbank on the day, the support will go a long way this festive period.”
