Formula One car stars at Infiniti Centre Newcastle

An Infiniti Red Bull F1 racing car, as driven by Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo, was the star attraction at a special VIP event to mark the opening of the brand-new Infiniti Centre Newcastle.

Vertu Motors PLC has opened Infiniti Centre Newcastle, which is the tenth Infiniti Centre in the UK and the first in the North East.

The new centre, located at Silverlink Retail Park in Newcastle, covers the areas of Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Teesside.

In addition to the prestigious racing car, guests had the opportunity to take to the track in a F1 simulator and see for the first time an Infiniti sponsored touring car from the 'Infiniti Support Our Paras Racing' team that will be entered into next season's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Infiniti representatives from the UK and Europe joined guests and praised the dealership and Vertu Motors contribution to the motor sector, and the North East economy. Colleagues from the Nissan factory in Sunderland also attended the event.

Sold globally in 50 different countries, the premium Infiniti brand was launched in the USA in 1989. Currently manufactured in Japan and the United States, its first European manufacturing plant is set to open in Sunderland next year as the brand expands into Europe.

Amongst other models, Infiniti Newcastle is selling the recently launched Q50, a premium sports saloon packed with leading edge technologies alongside a full hybrid version designed with both performance and efficiency in mind, and the QX70 dynamic SUV.

These models are immediately available and in September 2015 the dealership will acquire the brand-new Q30, which will be built at Nissan's Sunderland factory, further strengthening the North East's position in the automotive sector

Robert Forrester, CEO of Gateshead-based Vertu Motors PLC, said: "I am very proud that Vertu Motors has opened the doors to the first Infiniti Centre in the North East.

"Customers will see a completely unique and exciting design concept within the dealership with the Vertu Motors ethos of excellent customer service paramount.

"Next year, the Infiniti Q30 will be manufactured just down the road in Sunderland, meaning we will have another car brand both produced and sold in the region, which is fantastic news for the North East."
