Plymouth Technician Earns National Recognition At Vertu Masters Awards

A Plymouth-based technician has been recognised on a national stage after being named ‘Colleague of the Year’ across the Volvo and Ferrari Divisions at the prestigious Vertu Masters Awards.
Matthew Cox, Senior Technician at Volvo Plymouth, received the accolade as part of the Group’s annual awards programme, which celebrates the achievements of its highest-performing non-management colleagues.
Now in its fifteenth year, the Vertu Masters Awards highlight excellence across the business, with more than 7,000 colleagues competing for recognition, making Matthew’s achievement a significant accomplishment.
Since the opening of the Plymouth site in March 2025, Matthew has played a central role in supporting the development of the service team.
With many colleagues new to the brand, his willingness to share knowledge, support others and take on challenges has been instrumental in helping the team grow in confidence and capability.
Known for his strong work ethic and enthusiasm, Matthew has helped to establish solid foundations at the dealership, contributing to both day-to-day operations and the longer-term success of the site.
Matthew Cox said: “I am really pleased to receive this award. It has been an exciting time as part of a new site, and I have enjoyed helping to build the team and support colleagues as we develop our knowledge and experience.
“We have all worked hard to get things up and running, so it is great to be recognised in this way.”
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “Matthew’s award is thoroughly deserved and reflects the important role he has played in establishing the Plymouth operation. Supporting a new team and helping to build confidence and capability is no small task, and Matthew has approached it with professionalism, enthusiasm and a real commitment to success.
“The Vertu Masters Awards celebrate those who make a meaningful contribution to the business, and Matthew’s impact in Plymouth has been outstanding. He will undoubtedly continue to play a key role as the site goes from strength to strength.”
