Taxi Centre Helps Drive £2,600 Donation To Beatson Cancer Charity

The Taxi Centre has once again stepped up to support Glasgow’s Hackney taxi trade and a local charity, raising a further £2,600 for Beatson Cancer Charity, bringing the total raised for the charity this year to £4,300.

The recent fare increase prompted a round of meter adjustments for the city’s cab drivers, and The Taxi Centre, alongside Digitax, offered to complete updates in exchange for a charity donation.

The initiative mirrors a similar effort in February, underlining the company’s commitment to the wider trade and not just to its LEVC customers.

James Welsh, LEVC Sales Manager at The Taxi Centre, said: "Every time the tariffs change, it’s a big job for drivers. We wanted to make sure the process was as smooth as possible and, at the same time, continue supporting a cause that means a lot to the community.

“Raising another £2,600 shows what can be achieved when the trade pulls together, and we are hugely grateful to Glasgow’s taxi drivers for their help."

Heilidh Wilson, Corporate Fundraiser at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from The Taxi Centre and the city’s drivers.

“These donations help us provide vital care and services for patients and families affected by cancer across the west of Scotland.”

Digitax, which supplies and maintains taximeters for Hackney drivers, also played a key role in the update.

Paul Armstrong from Digitax said: “It’s great to see the industry working collaboratively, not just to keep drivers compliant but to make a real difference for charity.”

At the same time, The Taxi Centre has seen a surge of interest from Glasgow and Edinburgh drivers looking to secure their new LEVC vehicles as the Scottish Government’s Energy Saving Trust (EST) 0% loan scheme draws to a close.

While no official end date has been announced, the urgency of the scheme winding down has prompted many drivers to act quickly ensuring they don’t miss out on the opportunity to upgrade to the market-leading LEVC TX.

The LEVC TX continues to hold its position as the best-selling purpose-built taxi in the UK, reinforcing its reputation as the vehicle of choice for professional drivers nationwide.
