Vertu Honda colleague wins prestigious award after going the extra mile
A colleague at Vertu Honda in Sunderland has seen his dedication to customer service rewarded with a prestigious Honda award.
John Sleeman, 32, from Sunderland was presented the Honda Excellence award by Service Manager Dave Shaw, after assisting Honda driver, Daniel Driscoll when his clutch failed 180 miles from home.
Mr Driscoll was visiting the North East on a business trip when his Honda Accord clutch failed. On further inspection of the vehicle, John discovered it also needed a flywheel replacement and due to Belgian holidays, the necessary parts were not available until the weekend. With Mr Driscoll needing to return to Derbyshire no later than Friday night, John loaned him a courtesy car and delivered his own car back to him on Sunday in a 360 mile round trip.
John, a Service Advisor at Vertu Honda, has ten years' experience in the motor industry and was just pleased he could assist the customer with his vehicle dilemma.
John, said: "It was an honour to receive the award from Honda but I was just relieved that I could help Mr Driscoll with his car. I really enjoy my role as a Service Advisor at Vertu Honda and it is always nice to hear that a customer is satisfied with the service they have received."
Mr Driscoll, said: "If it wasn't for John and his excellent customer service, I'm not sure what I would have done. For John to loan me a car and then use his own personal day off to return mine to me 180 miles away is definitely an example of going above and beyond. I can't thank John enough for his help and I would recommend the dealership to all Honda drivers."
