Vertu Motors Chief Financial Officer Takes On Mighty Hike For Macmillan

Karen Anderson, Chief Financial Officer at Vertu Motors plc, is embarking on a remarkable challenge this September to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

As an advocate for the charity, Karen will be taking on the 26-mile 'Mighty Hike' later this month along the stunning Northumberland coastline, aiming to support those living with cancer.

This cause is particularly close to Karen's heart following her own diagnosis of malignant melanoma last year. Fortunately, her cancer was detected early and treated successfully. However, Karen is acutely aware that many others are not as fortunate.

Reflecting on her commitment to Macmillan’s Mighty Hike, Karen said: “I completed my first Mighty Hike back in July 2019 and am hoping that this time I will not suffer the horrible blisters of that attempt!

“This time, I will also have my brother Neil walking with me and we’re calling it training for our deferred Great North Run in 2025. I have received fantastic support from family, friends and colleagues, and would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me so far."

Karen pledged to raise at least £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support but has already surpassed £1,000. Every pound raised will go towards making a significant difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families, including helping to fund a Macmillan Support Worker, offering crucial emotional, practical, and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motors plc, praised Karen's dedication: "Karen's commitment to both her role within the Group and to important causes like Macmillan Cancer Support is truly inspiring. Her journey through her own cancer diagnosis and her determination to give back is a testament to her resilience and generosity. We are incredibly proud to support her in this endeavour and encourage everyone to contribute to this worthy cause."

The Mighty Hike is not only a physical challenge but also a meaningful way for Karen to give back and support those facing the toughest of battles. The funds raised will directly contribute to Macmillan's mission to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.
